I have been a photographer for 12 years. My photography started out as a hobby, but I decided to take it to the next level while working as a nanny in Woodinville, WA back in 1995. I took a class through a correspondance program which put flame to my spark igniting a love, admiration and passion for the craft. I diligently searched employment where I could work with other photographers and develop my skill. I was blessed enough to find this at Kenmore Camera in Kenmore, WA. I worked for KC for just shy of 10 years. During that time I honed my skills by watching, listening, and practicing the art that would eventually be brought to life through Silverhand Photography.
The photographs you find on this site were taken with many different cameras since my shy beginning in 1995. I started with a Pentax K-1000. In my opinion this is the best camera with which to learn. Having no automatic features at all, I was forced to utilize the techniques of proper exposure and film manipulation. I stayed with Pentax during the next few years using a Pentax 159, ME super, and P3. Later, I chose to work with the superior German engineering available in the Contax line. Starting with the Contax 137MA I . All lenses were Zeiss optics and equiped with max. apertures of 3.5 or brighter. My medium format shooting has been with a borrowed Hassleblad system, a Rollieflex 75mm 2.5 120mm, and a borrowed ancient Kodak bellows 120 jobber that I WISH I could find for myself! That was a fun camera!
Recently I moved into the realm of digital photography. I shoot currently with a Nikon D70 and Nikkor elements. This camera has proven itself to be a remarkable tool and equal to the tasks represented by my latest jobs.
I would like to extend a very special THANK YOU to Jonathan Nelson of JNelson Photography, Rich Alverdes, Damon Shearer. I have access to equipment and talents beyond my means. I am very grateful for their ongoing aid and contribution to Silverhand Photography!
Thanks for reading! gina
